Tennison Watts and Timothy McAllister ignite the stage with John Williams’ Escapades, a jazzy, high-energy ride brimming with playfulness and intrigue. Zhou Tian’s Transcend, commissioned by the Reno Phil to mark the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, soars with luminous textures and unyielding spirit, capturing the boundless ambition of human ingenuity. Jean Sibelius’s powerful Finlandia will feature a special side-by-side performance with the Reno Phil Youth Symphony Orchestra, uniting rising young musicians and seasoned professionals in a stirring celebration of unity and national pride. Anchoring the journey, Sibelius’ majestic Symphony No. 2 unfolds like a vast Nordic landscape - achingly beautiful & bracingly powerful - culminating in a triumphant finale that surges with hope and resilience.
