This June, I Cantori di Carmel presents Songs of Destiny — a breathtaking program of symphonic choral works that explore fate, beauty, and the human spirit. Led by conductor Daniel Henriks, the 56-voice chorus and 46-piece orchestra perform Brahms’ Schicksalslied and Nänie, Debussy’s luminous Printemps (in its rarely heard reconstructed version), Ravel’s Les Bayadères and L’Aurore, Vaughan Williams’ expansive Toward the Unknown Region, and Lili Boulanger’s radiant D’un matin de printemps — a poignant portrait of hope and renewal. Songs of Destiny is a powerful musical journey through longing, light, and transcendence — performed by one of California’s most ambitious community ensembles.
