What is your background in the arts?
I am a Symphony Board member, and music lover. I’ve sung in choirs and played piano and guitar.
What brought you to the arts world?
I was asked to serve on the Boards of my local Community Chorus and our Symphony, I’ve served for many years for boards of private companies and nonprofit organizations.
Is there an organization that you are particularly engaged with?
Yes, the Santa Barbara Symphony. I chair our Governance Committee for the Board of Directors.
What led you to donate to ACSO?
Our staff at the Symphony, led by Kathryn Martin, our CEO have received a lot of value from their membership. I also think there have been some good programs for volunteer board leaders, and look forward to participating in them.
What do do you love about ACSO?
The opportunities to network and learn and grow together. As the saying goes, “if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.”
How has music changed your life?
I can’t imagine life without music. It’s like breathing. You have to do it to live.
